How was Cabin funded as an organization?

This post aims to help create a space for the history of Cabin’s DAO’s origin story.

Some initial questions:

0. How was Cabin DAO first formed and why? I’ve seen some past writings about it, but would love to be able to reference a consolidated history about Cabin’s origin story as an organization.

1. Why did Cabin seek out Venture Capital funding? Some past DAO proposals give insight into Cabin’s creation and sale of its governance token to VC investors for millions of dollars to pay contributors, but they lack details on why those investors chose to purchase the token, what their goals were, and what vision of Cabin they bought into. I think it would be helpful for the community to understand how these relationships were formed to chart mutually beneficial paths forward.

2. Are there any pitch decks from the fundraising that can be shared with the DAO community? These core artifacts are part of Cabin’s lore, and it would be great if they were accessible to the public, or at least to all DAO token holder, not just past investors

3. Why was the liquidity pool for Cabin governance tokens removed? People used to be able to buy and sell Cabin governance tokens on decentralized exchanges. Why was this stopped?

4. Are there any plans for future utility around the Cabin token, or is it only intended to be used for governance of the DAO treasury?

5. What do VC investors currently want to see from Cabin? @jon has talked about staying in touch with investors, but I’m curious if some of these conversations could be brought into the DAO space to provide greater transparency and foster a shared understanding within the community. For example, when I was working for the Cabin Labs team I would see investor updates go out via email to a certain list… could those be shared with all DAO token holders or openly with the community? And it would also be awesome to hear directly from other investors about their perspectives on Cabin.

I think @jon would be the best person to address questions 0 - 4, but I’d welcome any input from people involved prior like Cabin’s co-founder @Zakk or others.

I’d love to hear from Investors around question 4, and of course welcome input from others who may have insight from investors.

FYI these questions are related to this discord chat in the general thread with @jon, @Ktando & others for more background.
